When I was thinking about how I wanted to raise tzedaka money in association with my upcoming Bar Mitzvah, I knew I wanted to do something related to alleviating hunger around the world.
My family and I have been involved with Project Ore for a few years, and we recently started volunteering at one of their centers to prepare and serve meals on National holidays. I have enjoyed talking to the clients and even playing chess with them, but it also makes me sad to see people who are hungry, and often also lonely.
I hope that when you are thinking out your own holiday meals and plans, you will also remember the members of our local community who are being helped by Project Ore. Thank you.

That's me volunteering at a Project Ore center with some of my family members on Thanksgiving 2014. Some of you may not know that I love to cook, have taken cooking classes, and frequently watch The Food Network. I also enjoy chess, golf, ping pong, hockey, reading, and collecting Israeli stamps.
